Bringing Coachella to millions of gamers online
We have spent years activating Coachella in Fortnite. In 2024 we produced festival themed musical experiences across even more of the Epic Games ecosystem, building in Fortnite Creative, Fortnite Festival, and Unreal Engine.
THE CHALLENGES
Build out a consistent and connected music experience between Coachella activations in-game, on the livestream, and physically in California.
Work with festival sponsors to help them activate in this new virtual venue.
THE CONCEPT
A multi-faceted musical experience.
We turned the Sahara tent into a modular music venue in Fortnite Creative. Featuring music and minigames by Grimes during weekend 1 and DJ Snake weekend 2. We used Unreal Engine to create consistent 3D assets across their live performance visuals and in-game experiences.
We produced a takeover of Fortnite’s new Festival game mode so fans could play Coachella’s virtual stages and jam together with stems from Coachella’s performing artists.
We developed a digital twin activation inside Sahara Island for Coca Cola featuring a remix room where players could make tunes using Patchwork, Fortnite’s newest music creation tools.
And of course, it wouldn’t be Fortnite without a slew of new cosmetics, instruments, and music packs.
