BROADCAST AR

AT COACHELLA

Building a new standard for concert visuals in 3D

Over the past three years we’ve pioneered an evolution in livestream performances on YouTube in collaboration with Epic Games and Unreal Engine, allowing artists to break out from video screens and expand their visuals into 3D space. In 2024 we collaborated with Anyma, DJ Snake, and Grimes.

THE CHALLENGE

After debuting the first ever broadcast AR live stream in collaboration with Flume in 2022, and then expanding on the program with Gorillaz, Bad Bunny, and BLACKPINK in 2023, we needed to continue evolving and improving.

Innovation is important here because broadcast AR offers a premium experience to the YouTube livestream viewers.

THE CONCEPT

In 2024, we expanded the program across multiple stages for the first time, overcoming many production and technical challenges to bring broadcast AR to the mainstage and Sahara tent.

We collaborated with Anyma, DJ Snake, and Grimes in the Sahara Tent and with Doja Cat and Ludmilla on the mainstage.

We also introduced new tools like LiDAR and generative AI for faster content creation.

We piloted custom built Unreal Engine software designed to give the creative reigns back to artists. When fully realized in 2025, this new tool will give artists direct access and control to create. This is the key to scalability and unleashing the creative potential of this medium.
